I have followed other peoples progress using these small dye cutting machines as printing presses and have always been impressed by what people have achieved - but I had my reservations - assuming they would not be able to print my metal plate etchings to the same standard as the large presses in the studio - but how wrong I was! Collagraph printing plates can be made of any material - the word basically means collaged together - typically I use cardboard and carve into the surface with a craft knife - peeling away layers and scoring marks into the surface. And, of course if it immediately seems like it will take some effort to get it through, I do not force it, but back off immediately and reduce the pressure before possible damage to the block or the press.
