This is my second review now that I have a full bottle. This smells vaguely different from the one I smelled at the counter that smelt a bit sweet, mine just smelt mainly citrus and almost manly. Great summer scent. Can't be without it. Better to me than Eau Tendre as it has more character for a more mature audience. I wished Eau Tendre will work for me, when I put it it turns to a generic white floral and mediocre citrus that smells unisex. Eau Vive is very close to the original Chance EDT but without the vetiver in the base that can come across as masculine sometimes (despite the notes listed here). Eau Vive is very fresh even in its musk and wood dry down notes. How can a perfume this nice be this underrated?? It's slightly crisp/fresh, but not as fresh as Eau Fraiche or as dry as Chance. Eau Vive is not an innocent girl (Eau Tendre), but a woman full of grace and subtle elegance. It's uplifting, optimistic and has helped me to battle with Winter Blues. But it didn't capture my imagination and make me feel great the way your special or favourite perfumes do. I can't believe there's so many bad reviews and dislikes. Star note is grapefruit, with other citrus nuances. Although Im not exactly sure which one anymore as Daisy got a looot! I tried it at a mall and found it too meh so I didnt plan to buy it because I said to myself I could get better value with another perfume. Something about it isexciting? thats my opinion any way. Something, that could easily become my everyday scent. I find the opening a bit screechy but the dry down is elegant enough, although it doesn't sing 'Chanel' to me and this marks it as the departure from Polge senior to his son as perfumer. At some point it starts to morph into a floral, and that transition is noticeable for me in that it isn't particularly pleasant throughout. The citrus, and especially the grapefruit is very very strong. I can't call it pretty or fun or cheerful or bright or anything. It is surprsingly long lasting. Top notes are very very citrusy. I find the whole chance line youngish so to say , which doesn't mean it also smells great on any age , I find it very nice on me and prefer it to the rest of the chances by far , except for tendre which remains my favourite of the 4 some , closely followed by the new eau vive , I find it fresh, clean, sweet and very appropriate ! But though it opens with a citrus blast, this citrus fades quite fast. No depth, smells generic, the only good thing is that it lasts for quite a long time, around 7-7.5 hours on my skin. The drydown was too masculine for my taste, with dry cedar and heavy vetiver drowning out the citruses. Its bright, sexy and just my type of scent. Eau Vive it combines the advantages of Eau Tendre and Eau Fraiche. Yay!! Layered they are also beautiful. It was quite pleasant, lovely; the first 30 minutes, but from then on, hard to find. Very fresh and very Chanel. The blood orange and citrus top is just too light. Can't be without it! So Happy I invested in this one. Aroma by Costa Brazil: Candidate For Best Fragrance 2022? Meaning, that presumably Polge the son will not make a big splash with his debut creation for Chanel. I smelled it next day and liked the soft scent so I gave it a second try. A very positive, feminine scent for all year round everyday wear. Something floral lingers in the background, but the citrus is covering everything. I have the Eau Tendre as well and I find both extremely good. The scent is made of quality ingredients however in the end I respected the sent but didn't like it. It's just like Dior's John Galliano to Raf Simons. Heavenly, gorgeous, much better than the original chance. There's just too much musk or something in it, and not enough of everything else. This fragrance is a strong citrus. There are literally millions of them out there from various different brands. Then, it started to dry down. Perhaps one day I will find a Chanel that works well on my skin, but alas it is not this day. I would have loved this if mine was also a bit sweet. I have a sample of it from Sephora and want to go back to buy a bottle of it. It's nice enough, this citrus floral. it's fresh and fruity, a little bit floral and musky and it gives me a really nice and happy feeling when I spray it on meI feel energized! VIVE starts very citrusy and tropical , a blast of orange ,grapefruit and clean musk ,vibrant , sweet and warm. I own Chance Eau Tendre and was never really a fan of Eau Fraiche - too green for me. Jasmine beautifully blends with white musk, and citrus is not obvious here, spicy or cologne, but juicy, smooth and slightly powdered. Eau Vive Chance is my favorite out of all Chance. It was a gift and I put it in the back of the closet feeling it was too strong for me. In two to three hours it's a skin scent. It smells like very sweet Orange juice with sugar. I would say there's a good chance, that if you like one, you'll also like the other. And no. Then a couple of weeks ago I finally got the chance to purchase it - I will say just this: for me this is HAPPINESS in a bottle! I'm not sure why this fragrance is getting so many dislikes because I absolutely love it! I would wear it liberally, if it were a gift. It does project in an indoor atmosphere gathering. Then it dries down to a marriage of eau tendre and eau fresh. Soapy and clean equals win. I also own Chance EDP and Chance Eau Fraiche. I'd buy a full size. For such a simple citrus perfume this stuff was POTENT on me.The grapefruit seemed to just scream at everyone I came in contact with. I must say I was extremely disappointed. It's a shame it's an EDT. I believe that much of the dislike for this perfume is because many people feel strongly that Chanel can do better (and I do agree). Wow, Chanelthey put Eau Vive in the Chance line, what, I think it's the fifth one or so, they gave it a pale pink color, and made it out to be an easy, bright citrus perfumeso of course I ignored it until very recently. It's fresh, light, smells great on me. Recently, however, I started testing eau Vive. I sampled this in the store, did two sprays. An easy reach for a daytime scent. Chanel perfumes either work terrible with my chemistry or never develop into anything memorable or beautiful. Epicene Gamma IFF: The Common Part of Spicy Men's Colognes of the 1980s? This perfume is not a showgirl in the window baring it all.It is sophisticated, elegant and sheer quality. I am afraid of discontinuance. It's never artificial or cloying on my skin, as it wraps me in this silky bright scent. I think it's possibly one of the least raved about Chanel releases for a long time. It starts with a gorgeous blast of blood orange that quickly dries to bitter citrus zest, musk, vetiver and jasmine. It is quite overpriced for what it is but I don't feel like anybody could dislike this perfume. What a crazy shift! I love Eau Vive, and it reminds me a lot of (Clinique Happy 2003) which I use to wear in 2005, so when I tried this Chance Eau Vive I remembered the scent of (clinique happy) immediately. I was willing to buy the Eau Tendre and the decided to try, again the Eau Vive, which was the only one I didn't care about and nowNow is the one I like the most! Just got a sample of this in a magazine. Most citrus fragrances don't have great lasting power that this lasts all day on me without having to be resprayed. Unfortunately, it's my least favorite of the Chance's. I can smell a LOT of grapefruit and some lovely flowers. I want to love this. Light and just a tad powdery. I tried it on today and let it wear on my skin and I seemed to be right on the verge of a headache. Initially it is like big blast of generic citrus. Unfortunately I get a lot of vetiver which makes it a bit masculine on me but I'm trying to forget about it and enjoy it as a whole :). Still, what happens after the big citrusy burst, is quite interesting. I have bought so many different ones or tried them and they have all failed me. I decided to try this in the cold as eau fraiche changes in the seasons with my body chemistry and this smells even better in the cold..it's gotten sweeter, the citrus is more present and the iris, jasmine, cedar and musk amp upthis is so good..I think I prefer to wear Eau Vive during the winter more than the summer and Eau Fraiche during the summer as that smells better on me during that season versus the winter. In theory, I like Eau Fraiche but find it too "astringent" for me. Eau Tendre too fruity? Not quite as youthful as it sounds. Can't go wrong with that! Simply put, Eau Tendre and Eau Fraiche just smell better. Just need to get the matching body lotion now! Both women and men love this. And it woukd have been good if it was just so - to my nose, after an hour on my wrist it started to smell quite harsh and grating, and I realized it was the iris. And it has a weird "twang" that I can't describe but do not like. On my skin it disappears within minutes, not even an hour!! Its a shame to me the opening is what makes this unique but it goes to a skin scent and doesnt last at all . I had ordered samples of eau fraiche and eau tendre as well as this. This is like Mademoiselle's loud, brassy sister. However, the base let me down. As it dries down I pick up even more fruitiness and grapefruit starts to become more prominent than orange while as a whole it remains sugary-sweet. Chance is still one of my top 5 favorite scents and it's still the one that gets the most compliments everywhere. Its flankers all radiate a jasmine that I don't project when wearing the original. It is very citrus and musk, but the grapefruit really stands out and is bitter to me. Thanks Chanel & Olivier for another delightful fragrance to make memories by. Why not just give it a new name? This is the only one I haven't finished. Now it is my 2nd bottle. What a disappointment! It's quite subtle but I'm sure it would be a beautiful day time fragrance to own. It changes quickly and passes through some florals and dries down to cedar and iris with the citrus present throughout the scent . I'll try it again, but it looks like my brothers girlfriend, who loves anything from Chanel, has a 1.7 oz bottle coming to her. I do have a problem with some of the citrus as it dries down as I find it smells a little like sweat to me but it's such a lovely scent that I won't give up on it, or maybe it's a musk in the fragrance causing this. It was love at first sight for me.. Smelled it at the chanel counter and it won me over. CHANEL CHANCE EAU VIVE is signed by perfumer Olivier Polge who blends sparkling notes of grapefruit with juicy, explosive red orange, providing citrus splash to elegant jasmine and white musk. Just wow. Perfume lovers: 791,748 Fresh, crisp, sparklygreat for warm weather, or as a signature scent for everyday wear. I liked it and was given a small decant sample. I recommend testing. Youthful, uplifting, fresh. The base is musky, possibly even with a bit of dry sandalwood, somewhat sensual. It is smooth but I find it very musky, like all the other notes sort of hide or blend into the muskI found myself going back and forth in regards to whether I liked it or notHowever, this is probably due to the price point and the brand which is why I think it would make a good gift. I do not get a lot of woody drydown. Sad to be late to that party! The search for a freshie that fills me with joy and doesn't disappear in two seconds flat continues. The collection was started with fragrance Chanel Chance in 2003, followed by versions Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche in 2007 and Chanel Chance Eau Tendre in 2010. I obtained a sample a Sephora a few months ago, when the weather was still cold. Classic chanel!! It's girly and lighthearted. After the 3rd day I was wearing it I couldn't smell it as much and I think if they come up with a lotion or a body spray it will help the smell project more. its 'basic'. It's excellent. Definitely try before you buy. Much more aquatic/melon than I expected based on the notes. It lasted very long for me 6-8 hours.. On me, it smells like a soft spicy citrus..hope they come out with other products in it for layering. It's floral but not as floral as Eau Tendre. Again my favourite perfumer behind this fragrance, so I knew I could not go too wrong with a blind buy. I guess I'm lucky I took a chance on you Eau Vive. It's not terrific for lasting - I'd say I get maybe 6 hours before it's a skin scent. Opens with huge citrusy fresh blast, which is absolutely gorgeous, but within seconds changes into a very woody-musky based perfume, nice but I'm not left blown away by this. A pleasant, daytime, non offensive scent. It radiates beautifully around me and others can smell it when they are near. I'm 1000% a citrus lover, but the addition of iris (and something else that I can't put my finger on) ruins the scent on my skin and it becomes less fresh and more powdery. Allure is my signature so I was excited to try this one. Chance Eau Vive by Chanel is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women. I have a soft spot for the Eau Tendre and own the largest bottle, but it's sort of a comfort scent. I know Tendre and Fraiche don't have much personality, and aren't perfume masterpieces, but they're refreshing and lively.
