It would be nice to get the weight down even 1.5 -2 ounces without sacrificing stability or control the shoe delivers. Bought my GTS 15s a week ago and I hate them. Just remember the Adrenaline GTS 15 is a support shoe as well that offers good cushioning and a very smooth quick transition. It is very possible since entire Midsole is new. Thanks for your feedback on your experience with the GTS 15s. The Adrenaline GTS 15 uppers simple design contains many ideal features runners are looking for. Ive purchased a pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15 from a sport store in Athens Greece and after that I passed through a Motion Analysis test with the outcome that I need a neutral running shoe. So just be careful with that many Km on the shoe. And at the same time it may reduce over time. The Ravenna 6 might be a good alternative, unless you need more stability that the GTS 15 offers. Thanks for the question regarding the Brooks Ravenna 6 and Adrenaline GTS 15. The Ravenna 6 is more of a guidance shoe which assists with control throughout foot strike while the Adrenaline GTS 15 gives a little more stability. If you try them on and dont like, shoot me a note and I will try to suggest others. Stay away from this shoe or go with the earlier models which are A+. Have been a long-term fan of Brooks Adrenaline; last pair were Adrenaline 13. If both model A and model B weigh 11 oz, but you need to go up a half size in model B, model B is actually going to be around a half ounce heavier than model A. I cant speak for what or why shoe companies do specific things. The shoe now has a full-length segmented crash pad that is designed to increase the overall responsiveness and smooth transition throughout the runners stride. Lets forget about the 14 which lacked support and the 13 which was not quite what it promised. This version is updated with a new no-sew overlay mesh that allows the shoe be breathable while providing a snug fit. Saving a few g on your shoes when the world is on your back can help. Im usually a size 13 XW in non-running shoes and a 14 XW in running shoes. They are a nice looking shoe, but if you are going to run in them, I may recommend against it. The Brooks Adrenaline does have a medium to high arch support system in place so would be a shoe that would give your flat feet some support. So the Ravenna 6 will give you a big more cushioning then the Adrenaline GTS 15s. There were a lot of enhancements and updates to the sole and upper with the 15s so these maybe didnt work the best for you. Thanks for your questions. The fit of shoe from my first run was comfortable as my heel was locked securely in place while and the rest of my foot firmly held in the upper. more profit for them, less comfort for me. I think that would be a good idea, always good to rotate shoes. It sounds like it didnt work with your running and what you liked about the previous models of the GTS shoes. Wife (seasoned triathlete) loves her brooks, so i thought Id give them a try. I agree with others here that Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15 has better support than the 14th iteration, hence is more akin to the GTS 13 in support but with better heel to toes transition. It looks like the Vapor is not sold in the US currently but it looks to be very similar to the Ravenna 6 in features by doing a quick look. Btw I had read thru quite a number review over the others blog . The past couple of years though I have noticed the toe box giving out before the shoe is ready to cycled out . I would recommend going to Brooks website http://www.brooksrunning.com and you have several option. Just remember that they are a 1/2 to small so make sure to try on your normal size and maybe a 1/2 up. My first run was 6 miles and I was able to maintain my regular pace of 8:30-9:00/mile for the entire run. The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15 is designed for those who have moderate to severe overpronation it offers maximum support if needed. The shoe I think would work for you if you feel the arch would be ok for your flat feet. The shoe is definitely has arch support and is designed for those have moderate to severe overpronation. Thanks for the comment and question. Feel cushion support throughout length of shoe. But the GTS 15 made some good changes.. Thanks for the comments and feedback on your experience. I would agree that the weight is height, which we find on many stability shoes these days. There is so much out there to pick from these days! I get the goodness of rotating so might I give the Kayanos another shot to rotate or go with the original thought of the New Balance 860? Many thanks. Go to a local store and take it for a spin just to get that feeling of the insole against your arch. However Ive never been completely happy with them. I hope that works if you just need some mild stability and cushioning. Really weirded out by your comment have been having new to me pains in my left heel since purchasing these shoes. Let us know how the heel cups work in NB and I hope that your heel pain goes away after some more miles in the shoes maybe? I love my pair. The heels on both shoes are made of the same material and cushioning so you will be safe there and they will offer you control if you do heel strike a bit. I had switch to Asics GT 2000 and Saucony iso triumph , all I can said they it remind me the GTS 12 and 13 . 11-12 mm drop is not acceptable anymore! It seems as though Brooks is adding their new BioMogo DNA into all shoes starting in the last several years. You might go to store and try both on during same visit and see if you can feel the difference. Was that helpful? More than 60,000 runners have prepared for their 5K, 10K, Half and full marathons with our free training plans. The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15 is designed for those who need moderate to severe support with overpronation. I hope at least that we get a free replacement. It is is designed for a mid to high arch but again that goes to personal feel so you would need to try the shoe on. My Marine Corps Marathon shoes were the Saucony Guide which were pretty good, but theyre not available in XW anymore and I like everything about the Adrenalines more (Im over 6, 200 lbs, flat-footed with mild pronation and mid/forefoot striking). I think you will enjoy the GTS 15s if you liked the GTS 13s. The design of this new crash pad on the sole was not only comfortable but the flexibility it provided increased the control I experienced. Try the 1/2 up and see how if feels in the store, I think given you have worn so many versions in the past you will know if it is too large or fits ok. Glad you like the Adrenaline GTS 15s, hope you can put some good miles on them! To my shocking the heel pad wear severely after 30 miles . A solution in search of a problem. Very frustrating. The go-to stability running shoe for those who want to tackle daily running sessions, exercises, and other athletic activities. I work 12 hour shifts and these came highly recommended by a lot of hospital workers. ASICS Kayano 21 Review: http://www.runningshoesguru.com/2014/12/asics-kayano-21-review/, http://www.runningshoesguru.com/2015/02/asics-gt-2000-3-review/. They are connected to the lacing system, so whenever the shoelaces are tightened or loosened, they follow suit, therefore causing the upper to adapt, as well. Somehow this material doest quite do it for me in terms of responsiveness. I have now run in the 15s and now have an IT Band injury. We dont want to make your shin splints worse. I tried the New Balance 870 which was perfect in many ways, but I like more cushion. It is like Nike saying that they no longer put Nike Air in airbags, but it is simply mixed with the midsole foam. The rest of the shoe will hold up and offer a great deal of stability and cushioning that you are looking for. They hurt my knees so Ive since moved on. I have been wearing Adrenalines for over 15 years, and the 14s and 15s are not good upgrades. I am hoping that this is not a huge issue once I break into the shoes properly. I am glad you were able to return your wifes shoes and hopefully they give your a replacement pair. I think once you try a pair on, you will feel if it is similar right away. Jens Jakob is a fan of short distances with a 5K PR at 15:58 minutes. This calm me a bit . Stability wise, the Adrenalines are untouchable. BioMoGo is another mid-sole tech thats responsive and springy. The GTS 15 is a good shoe. The heel is a tad shorter and a little more cushioning on the heel collar as well. My never-ending quest for the right pair of running shoes has seen me try numerous brands offerings; both stability and cushioned lines. I assume if you run in the Kayano 19s in the past and the GTS 14s that you need a little stability? Its a very helpful design when it comes to enabling a more effective toe-off, which requires the foot to bend more in the forefoot section. So if look for more stability then GTS 15 is the way to go, if look for just some stability then Ravenna 6. you should speak again with the store you purchased from to see if you can resolve. So if you like more cushioning, the Kayanos may have a touch more cushioning but I would try both on as they would both be good in your rotation. For AUD200+ I would expect better durability! Cushioning wise, after a few weeks, it started to feel like concrete blocks would be a comfier choice. If you do get a pair of GTS 15s just remember they run a 1/2 small so you will want to try on or go up a 1/2 to ensure room in the toe box area. My arch is so painful I cant even touch it let alone put a shoe any shoe,on. I am happy to say that I broke in the toe box and there is no tightness anymore. They felt great for the first few hours of break in. The GTS 15s are better and closer to the support in the GST 13s. So assume you meant 860v5 and it would be a good stability shoe that offers some support not as much as the NB 1260 or the Brooks Adrenaline GTS but some good support for a 10oz shoe.. Hi Travis, I had zoom down my final choice to either Brooks GTS15 or NB 1240v4. I have been having a patella femoral issue from doing a lot of hiking on uneven surfaces and a big burst of gardening aka kneeling! I need a favor from You I would need the email address to Brooks or whom to write to @ Brooks manufacturer concerning the quality issue that I am having I just do not feel justify for me to paid so much money this shoe that I dun get what I paid for and the type of service i received from Key power intl . The midsole in the GTS 15 was changes to the Brooks BioMoGo DNA midsole foam. He is passionate about running, whether it be on the roads or trails. But hopefully the next pair wears better for both of you. Jens Jakob previously owned a running store, when he was also a competitive runner. I am looking to purchase the Brooks Ravenna 6, albeit am still wondering if the GTS 15 Adrenalin might be a better shoe for me. Happy Running! This is my eighth pair of brooks. As the 14 was apparently not as supportive as the 13. So that support would should help and assist you. I am using 680V2 new balance for year and a half..it was very comfortable..I bought this GTS-15 just today without reviewing it.as it is comparably it has a very stiff hard cushion .i might have to get back on this posts after more runs.Goodluck to myself. I normally wear a ghost and loved them as I have always got really bad shin splints and my right ankle and knee experience pain during running and the ghost helped I apparently roll out when running more so in that leg and this shoe was recommended I have worn them to gym and to run on the foot path and I dont know Im thinking I should take them back I had immediate shin splints and my ankle and knee flared up almost immediately.. Should I persist Ive been told I have 30 days to take them back am tempted to wear my old ghosts which definitely needed upgrading . It is in the Brooks like and has a bit more cushioning a tad less stability but a good blend. Cheers, Travis See more at: http://www.runningshoesguru.com/2015/01/brooks-adrenaline-gts-15-review/#comment-309175. I never have these encounter with GTS 12 and 13 ! It can be replaced with a new one. Based on 35 million race results, he's among the fastest 0.2% runners. However, for others, this difference may create a snug fit so going up in size should be considered. It was too stiff (despite using the Mizuno Wave Inspire 8/9/10 series with great results, and the Kayano 19/20, a softer shoe). Even with added supportive insoles. The medium is now too narrow (particularly in the ball of the foot) and the wide is too wide. Regrettably had to purchase Mizuno shoes for the first time! Would you say the GTS 15 is more like the GTS 13, in terms of support? Thanks again for your feedback. Thanks for taking time to comment on your experience with the GTS 15s compared to when you wore the 13s and 14s. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (also, why do Brooks make running shoes in such garish colours)!! I am not a doctor, but, I have heard and believe it would be possible to have wear a shoe with too much stability as it could and will affect your foot strike so the short answer is yes it could change and possible harm your stride, foot strike and more. After switching to the 14s, I developed an inner knee problem that had me off running for a couple of months! Thanks for the question. I do recall having the same issue with the GTS 12 but the shoe worked well once broken into. Both shoes offer stability and cushioning underfoot. Thanks for adding your comments on your experience with the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15. A breathable material called the Element Mesh makes the upper unit feel very comfortable. I have almost flat feet and bunions but not painful or requiring surgery. It is a stability shoe in the ASICS family that has a lower price take. Yes, I would agree that the stability and the overall function of the Adrenaline GTS 15 is more like the 13 with many positive updates. Then the knee and foot pains kicked in. I just started running a couple of years ago. We will get you into a shoe. This year I was going to buy the 15 and Im so glad that I tried them on in the store and walked around in them (Im a walker, not a runner). They were so nice. To my shocking the crash pad and the heel wear severely after clocking 30 miles ! Please note the shoe had been running 1/2 small (even noted on Brooks website for the 15s so keep that in mind when trying on). Now Im looking into getting another pair. Dear Sir I have very flat wide feet and have recently purchased 700 worth of shoes all to no avail. Some runners may feel that 12 mm seems high; however, the offset is a very individual preference in my opinion. I think you will like the Adrenaline GTS 15s as they addressed some of the issues on the 14s and are more like the earlier versions. Let me know via email when a comment is added to the conversation. I hope that Brooks and/or the store you purchased them from are able to exchange them for you and resolve it in a way that keeps you as a customer. I average around 20-25 miles a week. Same with wed few hours of break in. I started off with Asics gel Kayano 19 and they were fine. If so, this is around 1,100 miles and for any shoe that would be a lot and almost double what most can get out of shoes. And you may find the 870s are the ones you prefer to rotate over the 860s. I just hope it has not ruined my feet permanently. Im curious as to the difference between the Ravenna line and these Adrenaline GTS. ha! If there was one thing I would change, its the weight. These are a gem, no knee pain and they support my arches a great deal. For most with normal arches they wont notice the difference, but that could be the issue for you in this version. So if you want more stability the GTS 15 if you, but both may work in your case as you just need some control and stability it sounds. And since you previously wore a 14 XW and they would a bit small then my opinion is that the GTS 15s in size 14 XW will feel small so I would size up. I am looking for another pair of shoes to replace the Nikes as they've outlived their best days as well. So depending what your normal size is and how much room you have there, you may need to go up this extra size. So far, no injuries as a result (other than ongoing overall soreness), so If i understand correctly, if the Adrenaline is a step up in stability; might be a good start? The problem I seem to have is that stability shoes dont offer enough cushiong and cushioned shoes not enough stability. The Kayano will feel like it has more cushioning under foot (not too much just notice more) and it is slightly higher in price. I have the same problem as you with the achiles. Sometimes, you never know why a company makes some of the changes they do. But strangely, after only a few days of running in them, my left big toe has started to feel stiff so that I land flat-footed and cant push off on it. Using the runners for 16 weeks (70km weekly), the soles at the front half are just plain flat! I am glad you liked the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15s. Thanks for your feedback on the GTS 15. I noticed this size difference from the moment I put them on to go out for the first run. The Sole and upper has changed over the past two years and it sounds like this change was not one your feet agreed with. I moved to a Ghost 6 and both toe boxes went out small toe sides. Im now running up to 14km in humid Australian temps so the 15 gets too tight on my middle toes causing pain and blisters. This new midsole material works well with the Adrenaline GTS 15 which is the latest shoe to benefit from this new technology that has debuted in many Brooks shoes in the last year. The toe box on the GTS 15 was about 1/2 size small and this was noted by Brooks (on their website). The ASICS GT-2000 and Saucony Triumph ISO are good, reliable shoes so good choice and glad you are enjoying them! Also, during runs, it has good cushioning (not too much, not too little) and for me the heel to toe transition got better and better the more I ran in the shoe. It will be a solid choice in your marathon training. I agree the 15 has a great deal of stability and the only real drawback is it is a 1/2 smaller. In February 2016 I replace The GTS 16 , this shoe is horrible and expensive , bought in the local Brooks retailer In Spore . I bought a pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTS shoes for my wife in November 20th. For the past year and a half I've put around 800 miles on both these pairs of shoes. THANKS. I am also in the process of running and testing the Kayano 22 which was just released (earlier than normalso a review will be posted as soon as I am done testing). We earn affiliate commissions at no extra cost to you when you buy through us. A quick reminder it runs a 1/2 small, but go try on a pair in a local running store and walk around, I think you will immediately feel the good arch support and the stability the shoe offers. Then the NB next time. Thanks. My go-to-shoe has been the Saucony Guide, but its no longer made in XW. I did not get a chance to run in the 14s so cant directly compare. The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15 is a shoe that will be added to my daily rotation due to the its combination of stability and cushioning while still giving me the control I need on various types of terrain. The only problem is that my joy lasted just for 4 1/2 month. The Ravenna 6 is going to be good if you are looking for a quality training shoe and need a touch of stability for over-pronation where the GTS 15 will be good is you are more of a moderate over-pronation. Copyright 1995-2022 eBay Inc. All Rights Reserved. Sorry to hear that the 15s didnt work out for you. Resulted in a knee swelling that took a week to resolve, dropped the GTS and no recurrence. It offers the same midsole ride and comfort around your foot via the upper. The main difference is dependent on the amount of stability you need. Contact US (chat, email or call to support team): http://www.brooksrunning.com/en_us/contact-customer-service.html, Id given up on this clown ( key power intl ) I hope Brooks will relook into their production line and QC to regain my confidence in the brand . I would try returning the shoe, the the GTS 15s do run a 1/2 small. RunningShoesGuru will be reviewing the GTS 16s for release in the Spring so check back in a few late this year or early January once shoe for new review. Let me know if you have questions after reading or if you want some more options as glad to assist. Thanks for the questions and comments on how they are working for you. Thanks Travis: I really appreciate that. hi travis.i have high arches and i overpronating, brooks ravenna 4 give me knee pain. I am an active person who has waited a long time for this trip. My suggestion would be before you take them back go into your local running store, see if they think you should be in a more neutral shoe or a shoe with some added stability as the GTS 15 will assist with pronation (could cause some muscles to react different then use to.. just a possibility). I currently own 2 pairs of shoes the Nike Free Run and Brooks GTS 12. Currently I am also using the saucony iso fit triumph and Asics GT 2000 , they never showed any serious signs of wear in them after 40 miles . Some cushioning or lots of cushioning? My previous Adrenalines (14 XW) were a bit too short. If shoe is too small, you may want to go up 1/2 size (just suggestion). All these changes to the midsole increased the cushioning just enough to be noticeable and enhanced the all-important control or stability that runners desire. The shoes you noted above all vary in cushioning and stability. Btw do you want to consider saucony or Asics ? Maybe I could revert to the Adrenalines as a temporary measure then slowly move towards something more cushioned? Hi! The Adrenaline 15s and Saucony Guides are similar in their stability and cushioning and how they feel underfoot as you make the heel-to-toe strike. It seems like it is migrated to all models. This rollbar additionally assists those runners who tend to pronate during their foot strike. FYI, Adrenalines ALWAYS run a half size small, so thats nothing new. Let me know if you need help with other shoes if you dont find 14s. The Adrenaline GTS (14 or 15) shoe is also in Brooks Stability category so it will help with your overpronation as well. Thanks. Hi Travis Sorry to comment about the way you defended about the Brooks GTS 16 . Can you advise me if I should just get the 15 and go 1/2 size bigger or is there another pair that is better. Hi Travis Are there any other brands you recommended for people who liked the Adrenaline 14 but not the 15? Have you tried the ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 or the ASCIS GT2000 3 which are both stability shoes with good cushoniing. Thanks for the questions. Does anyone have any good recommendations for an alternative? I was thinking that, if one must go up a half size, isnt this equal to a weight gain in the shoe? I have run in the Adrenaline through the 13, have always liked them.Im looking forward to trying the 15. Can I ask are you still experiencing this pain or discomfort? A career of rugby before I started distance running has played havoc on my knees so i was looking for something a bit cushier. Interesting. So if you need maximum stability, which you may due to your right foot, you may try the Brooks Adrenaline ASR (they also have ASR GTX more waterproof if looking for that as well). Too big! But for some reason I thought Id try a different shoe (Asics GT-2000 3 Stability). I would suggest that since all the shoes you have tried vary is to get your gait analyzed at a quality local running store. So the GTS 15 has ample stability yet offers a flexible and comfortable ride. So besides the tweaks to the upper, everything under you foot was changed to some degree and this is probably causing some of your issue due to your flat feet not liking their changes/enhancements. His work is regularly featured in The New York Times, Washington Post, BBC and the likes as well as peer-reviewed journals. I have a slight over pronation, heel strike and currently run in a Brooks Pure Cadence 4 which I love given that I had a whole host of issues previously with New Balance and Asics shoes (shin splints, sore ankles and knee pain). Too small! I think Ill need some stable hybrid ones Or do you think I can handle my runs with a road shoe? It all depends on how your 9.5s fit, but I believe the GTS 13s fit normal. Thanks for your comments on the GTS 16. The sole unit of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15 is where you will find a majority of the updates found in this version. I have been buying Adrenaline for many years and normally love them and dont have any issues. This would be a good shoe for you. The new Adrenaline 15s are PERFECT the best ever. The new spring version of the Adrenaline GTS 16 will be tested soon so look for a review here to see what has changed and the response as they will be released soon. The size 15XW just arrived and couldnt be a better fit. Thanks again. I had a nasty blister on my right foot. Would the Adrenaline have too much heel or is that a good thing for my heavier weight even though my heel barely touches the ground. Thanks for the question. The Brooks Adrenaline 14 or the updated 15 does have a good medium to high arch support which will assist with your higher archers. Love this shoe except for the rock hard and thin insole. Good luck with your running. Seems the toe box and shoe overall runs small. Thanks for your feedback on your experience. Shin splits as you know can be caused by many different factors upping mileage too quick, muscle imbalance, etc (see Runners World article attached for some good quick information for you). There are some companies who have unisex shoes for that reason. You could try the Asics GT-2000-3 which just came out and here is a review for you to read: http://www.runningshoesguru.com/2015/01/asics-gt-1000-3-review/. I have manged to get a pair of the GTS 15 at a knock down price as they are last seasons. Thanks for the comments and glad you like the GTS 15s that you got. If you like Brooks and want some cushioning and not too much stability, you may like the Brooks Ghost 7 which has good cushioning. The Adrenaline did update their sole this go around where the Ravenna did it in the previous versioon so its dialed in more in my opinion. That way, they will be able to analyze your gait and recommend a shoe that fits based on your gait, foot strike and so forth. I would recommend that you pick a truly neutral shoe that fits your gait if that is what you need. They are a bit big and Im halfway into my shift and my feet are in so much pain. Thanks for the question. Travis enjoys the adventure of traveling and exploring the outdoors with friends and is fueled by discovering where the next trail will lead.
